For many years, the city of Destin dreamed of building a festive boardwalk, creatingÂ a place for locals and visitors to stroll the length of the Destin Harbor, from the Destin Yacht Club, west to Harbor Walk Village. Last year, after many years of planning and hard work, the Destin Boardwalk was completed, in time for the busy summer season. Now, Thereâ€™s nearly a half mile of well -lit boardwalk, so you can stroll along, listen to music, grab a snack, and watch the boats from the heart of Destin. Here are five ways to get your boardwalk adventure started: Watch the charter boats unload their catch. Most of the charter fishing fleet will return to the docks about 4:30. You are welcome to watch the mates clean and filet dinner for the lucky anglers. Have a cool treat. You have your choice of cocktails, ice cream, gelato, and smoothies. Many of Destinâ€™s most treasured restaurants have gotten new life thanks to the boardwalk, and a number of new establishments, including the very popular Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House are thriving thanks to increased foot traffic. Watch the sunset. Thereâ€™s not a better view in Destin. Rock the Docks. There is always something going on at Harbor Walk Village. Rent a pontoon, Jet Ski, or paddle board and explore the jetties, Holiday Isle and the East Pass.
