On Wednesday morning, the team members of Five Star Properties got together for their quarterly Adopt-A-Street cleanup. Earlier this year, we adopted a one mile stretch of Scenic Highway 98 (from Matthew Drive to Crystal Beach Drive and back) and committed to picking up trash along the street on a quarterly basis. Five Star team members gathered early, about 8:30 a.m., eager to help maintain our beautiful Destin community. We each took a trash bag, pulled on our gloves, and tackled the task as a team.

The beautiful Gulf of Mexico peaked out from between the houses and business as we walked down the street collecting litter – a gentle reminder of why keeping our roads clean is so important. The proximity of the road to the Gulf makes it easy for trash to be blown onto the beach where it could harm people (i.e. stepping on glass) or into the water where it could potentially harm the marine life (i.e. entanglement in wire or plastic bags). By working together, we can help create a clean and safe environment for all Destin’s inhabitants, either human or animal!
