The Destin Seafood Festival may have been cancelled due to bad weather, but this weekend's forecast looks fantastic for the 37th Annual Mullet Festival. Hosted by the city of Niceville, the Mullet Festival celebrates this humble but important fish with three days of food, fun, and music. Beginning Friday, October 18, and running through Sunday, this year's festival promises some big name headliners as well as a glimpse of some of country music's most promising talent. Local, regional, and emerging talent takes center stage Friday night and all day Saturday, as groups like Thompson Square and individual acts including Parker Willingham and Justin Moore take the stage. The Northwest Florida State Show Choir, the Soundsations, will take the stage, as will Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster and Ben Portsmouth's Ultimate Elvis Tribute. On Sunday, Grammy Award Winner and Country Music Hall Famer Vince Gill brings his greatest hits to Niceville to close the festival. In addition to the entertainment, there are carnival rides and games, an arts and crafts fair, and plenty of food. While Mullet is a popular menu item, there are plenty of other choices available. Named as one of Parade Magazines top 12 Seafood festivals, there's something for the whole family in Niceville this weekend. Admission to the festival is $10.00 Friday night, $10.00 Saturday until 5:00, $15 Saturday evening, and $10.00 Sunday. Weekend passes are available at a number of locations.
