Destin, Florida is known for it's amazing 6 week red snapper season. People come from all across the country to fish our gulf waters. June 1 marked the beginning of red snapper season and Monday was the end. “Snapper, snapper, snapper and more snapper,” said Capt. John Tenore of the Dawn Patrol as he hung up their catch Monday morning. He and his group from Missouri were fishing down east of Destin about three or four miles off the beach. The snapper were plentiful, Tenore said, “all you want.” Don't be too upset that snapper season has ended. Other fish are still biting in our beautiful gulf waters! If you are a snapper lover, don't forget to think forward to next season and snatch up your Destin vacation rental early in advance.
