William Augustus Bowles, AKA Billy Bowlegs, came to Pensacola, Florida in 1779 to prevent the capture of Pensacola from the Spanish. After being defeated by the Spanish, Bowlegs developed a fueled hatred for Spain and began the lucrative business of pirating on the high seas. Boogie on Down: Dancing with the Stars Pros at Mattie Kelly Arts Center

Eglin Air Force Base in Niceville will host its 11th annual Bob Hope Memorial Charity Golf Classic. The event acts as The Air Force Enlisted Village’s major local fundraising event and will take place on May 16 and 17. The Emerald Coast Boat Week and the Emerald Coast Poker Run is in its 21st year in Northwest Florida. The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic

The Emerald Coast is host to one of the Top 10 Big Money fishing tournaments in the world! The ECBMC, starting on June 18 and lasting to June 22, 2014, gives anglers the chance to win huge payouts while also experiencing the natural beauty of the area. The Classic is a modified release tournament, meaning Blue Marlin are the only billfish that may be weighed. Release points are also rewarded for white marlin, sailfish, blue marlin, and spearfish.
