Destin Beach Update 6/30 from Five Star Beach Properties

Allyssa Smith Share

Here is the latest video update from Five Star Beach Properties. This video was filmed at approximately 3:00 in Miramar Beach by Lune Lac and Paradis. It’s been raining all day today, but we filmed during a break. We walked a 100 yard stretch of beach. The water was very clear especially after a storm. We saw a total of 3 small tar balls on a 100 yard stretch of beach. We really had to look hard to find them. Hopefully we will see some sun tomorrow! youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef0IPwFaH4Y

There are NO TAR BALLS or OIL in sight! Today is June 28th. We have filmed in Miramar Beach at about 3pm in front of Seascape (close to Whale’s Tale Restaurant). We have had an overcast day today, with scattered rain all day. The ocean is rough and there is a red flag out. This hasn’t kept people away from the beach or the water, though! The water is a beautiful aqua color and there is almost no June grass visible. There is also NO TAR BALLS or OIL in

Today is June 24th. We have filmed at Crab Trap / Destiny by the Sea at about 9:30am. It is going to be another clear, very warm day. There have been some small, pebble-sized weathered tar balls that have been spotted. These can be easily removed from the beach. The county is well prepared and have already dispatched beach cleanup crews. All the beaches and water are open. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOASTjfpZWw]

Today is June 21st…it is another beautiful, sunny day. We have had perfect weather for at least 3 weeks now. We had a storm late last night that cooled things off just a little bit. The water is cool and refreshing. The winds are in our favor today and for the next several days, from the SE or E. We did not see any oil or tarballs on the beach today. The water is clear, although the storm stirred up the June grass. There are a lot of people on

Destin Oil Spill Update 6/19

Today, June 19th at noon, we filmed at Dune Allen Beach on Scenic 30a in Santa Rosa Beach…just east of Destin/Miramar Beach. It is a bright, sunny day with a heat index in the upper 90’s. Small clusters of pebble-sized tarballs were spotted in isolated areas. Lots of people are still on the beach and in the water. In an effort to respond quickly, Walton County quickly coordinated clean up efforts and began taking preventative action. Silt fence and geo-tubes are being employed in a small section of beach in

Sensational Media Coverage? Nah

Allyssa Smith Share

This video was taken from Face the Nation on CBS 6/13. The first two interviews were with the Governors of Alabama and Mississippi. Schieffer actually looked shocked when the governors of Alabama and Mississippi both said the media was overblowing the damage that the oil spill has done to the coast. This is one of the most obvious cases of
