On Wednesday, October 10th, the southeast experienced one of the largest and strongest storms to ever hit the United States. Hurricane Michael was the first Category Four hurricane the Florida panhandle has ever experienced since record-keeping began in 1851. It was also the first Category Three storm to hit Georgia since 1898. Moreover, Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach, FL with sustained winds of 155 mph. This makes it the strongest storm to hit the United States since 1992.

Thankfully, Destin and 30A were spared from this devastating storm.

The damage in our area is minimal. However, our neighbors in PCB, Mexico Beach, and Lynn Haven were not as lucky as us. Hurricane Michael left these communities in absolute ruins. The flood waters reached 9-14 ft high and entire buildings were torn to shreds.

While most residents in PCB and the surrounding areas evacuated for the storm, many are still unable to return home. Some of them don't even have a home to return to anymore. Even though there are tons of hurricane relief efforts underway, residents are still struggling. A lot of PCB still doesn't have power and cell phone service is weak to nonexistent. Because of the utter devastation in the area, many residents are still staying in hotels or with family, friends, and generous strangers.

To help those who need our support the most, Five Star Properties is offering 25% off for all displaced families, volunteers, and first responders.
