On December 9, 2015 Huffpost Travel posted an article titled “10 U.S. Places to Travel Before They Get Famous,” and our own Destin, Florida made the list. Those of us who already live here will think, “Of course we made the list.” We know how much fun and excitement there is in Destin, but the rest of the U.S. is just now catching on. Thanks to the growing popularity of vacation rental sites like TripAdvisor and Airbnb that advertise vacation rentals in areas such as Destin, more attention has landed on the beautiful beach town.
The Huffpost article describes Destin as “the easiest alternative to the Caribbean.” Our jewel tone water and warm weather are easily comparable to that of a tropical island. Yet Destin has even more to offer, with a unique mix of city and small-town vibes. The coastal location is ideal for boaters, beach-goers, salt-water fanatics, and sight-seekers.
